A Model Checker for Performance and Dependability Properties

چکیده
Markov chains are widely used in the context of performance and reliability evaluation of systems of various nature. Model checking of such chains with respect to a given (branching) temporal logic formula has been proposed for both the discrete [8] and the continuous time setting [1], [3]. In this short paper, we describe the prototype model checker E T MC for discrete and continuous-time Markov chains, where properties are expressed in appropriate extensions of CTL. We illustrate the general benefits of this approach and discuss the structure of the tool. Keywords— Markov chain, model checking, numerical mathematics, performance evaluation, probabilistic systems, temporal logic

Reachability checking in complex and concurrent software systems using intelligent search methods
Software system verification is an efficient technique for ensuring the correctness of a software product, especially in safety-critical systems in which a small bug may have disastrous consequences. The goal of software verification is to ensure that the product fulfills the requirements. Studies show that the cost of finding and fixing errors in design time is less than finding and fixing the...
متن کاملModel checking CSLTA with Deterministic and Stochastic Petri Nets
CSLTA is a stochastic temporal logic for continuous-time Markov chains (CTMC), that can verify the probability of following paths specified by a Deterministic Timed Automaton (DTA). A DTA expresses both logic and time constraints over a CTMC path, yielding to a very flexible way of describing performance and dependability properties. This paper explores a model checking algorithm for CSLTA base...
متن کاملSpinS: Extending LTSmin with Promela through SpinJa
We show how Promela can be supported by the high-performance generic model checker LTSmin. The success of the Spin model checker has made Promela an important modeling language. SpinJa was created as a Java implementation of Spin, in an effort to make the model checker easily extendible and reusable while maintaining some of its efficiency. While these goals were certainly met, the downside of ...
متن کاملModel checking mobile stochastic logic
The TemporalMobile Stochastic Logic (MOSL) has been introduced in previous work by the authors for formulating properties of systems specified in STOKLAIM, a Markovian extension of KLAIM. The main purpose of MOSL is to address key functional aspects of global computing such as distribution awareness, mobility, and security and their integration with performance and dependability guarantees. In ...
متن کاملModel-Based Quantitative Safety Analysis of Matlab Simulink / Stateflow Models
In this paper we report on work in progress to extend the QuantUM approach to support the quantitative property analysis of Matlab Simulink / Stateflow models. We propose a translation of Simulink / Stateflow models to CTMCs which can be analyzed using the PRISM model checker inside the QuantUM tool. We also illustrate how the information needed to perform probabilistic analysis of dependabilit...
